Weight loss story Transformation Tuesday with Sharna

Another phenomenal transformation. Let me introduce the lovely Sharna Weber. A young mother with a soon to be 2 year old daughter shares her story with us today.

How old are you and please can you share your health and fitness journey to date?

I am 32 years old, I have been on my real weight loss journey since the birth of my daughter in July 2011. Though was a yo-yo dieter since a teen.

What types of foods did you used to eat as a kid and young adult? What's changed since then?

My mum was (and still is) an amazing cook and she would cook with passion and love and so our meals would be very hearty, carb loaded and never skimped on fats. Think roasts with gravy, Yorkshire pudding and roasted veggies in oil or Mum would cook a variety of cuisines and cook up a banquet lol. We also had big servings on our plates and had to eat it all. My mum would often go on diets though and we kids would also have to eat whatever was the fad at the time, so liver cleansing diet, weight watchers etc. As a young adult I would yo-yo diet constantly which I think was a habit from being on varying diets with my mum as a kid. My weight would fluctuate as I could never stick with whatever fad diet was at the time and binge eat afterwards, I was also a very emotional eater. I ate healthy 90% of the time but it was the quantity of foods I had issues with and I rarely exercised.

Now I have implemented a way of eating which I can sustain long term, also changing to grain/sugar free was the best thing for my gut health. I was always feeling bloated and having stomach aches when I would eat refined carbohydrates. It would also send me on binge frenzies, eating sugar and simple carbs would cause me to feel hungry and crave more and more.
I now follow lacto-paleo principals majority of the time but on special occasions do tend to be more lenient, though often regret it the next day when I feel crappy.

Do you play any sports or what sports do you like watching?

I used to play many sports such as netball and soccer but at the moment I don’t play any sports. Dancing has also been something I loved to do and did Salsa classes for awhile. I love to watch soccer and Crossfit Games.
To keep fit at the moment I go to gym or walks along the beach, plus my children keep me on my toes!
I would love to take up boxing, pole dancing and Crossfit when I hit one of my mini goals and possibly salsa again.

What are your interests, passion and what makes you smile?

I love cooking, it will always be my passion. I also love to bake and often make cakes for friends and family as a hobby which is bizarre as I don’t have a sweet tooth lol. Though I have become much more mindful of the ingredients I put in to my meals and often create or modify recipes to be healthy and nutritious.
One thing I am very passionate about even before I embarked on this lifestyle change is creating a chemical free environment as much as possible. I love making chemical free natural cleaning products in our house as well as skin care etc.
We very much have a green thumb in this house and love to grow organic herbs and vegetables and I think its taught my kids a lot about food, where it comes from and showing them what real food tastes like.
I have to say the thing that makes me smile the most are my children, they are rays of sunshine. I love playing outside with them, they are so active and could spend hours outside in the garden.

What was the catalyst that sparked your lifestyle change?

I have always been on a ‘diet’ my weight has fluctuated between 54kg to 75kg for over a decade, it wasn’t until I had an emergency cesarean with my first child that I became really lazy and packed on the weight. I then fell pregnant again and that’s when I hit my highest weight.

I never used to have pictures taken of myself, I hate being photographed but then I saw photos of myself holding my daughter and I realized I cannot keep going on this path of self-destruction and not being a good role model for my children. I knew then that I had to make a lifestyle change for good, not just a quick fix diet.

What are some of your dreams/goals you hope to achieve over the next 12 months?

I vowed that when I would get to under 80kg I would get out of my comfort zone and do something I have never done before, so I have now signed up for True Grit, the military inspired obstacle course in May since I have hit that mini goal.

I am hoping in the next 12 months to hit my goal weight/body image. To lower my body fat percentage to around 20%.  I have awhile to go yet on my journey but looking forward to the final stages of transformation.

What tips would you like to share with my readers about your transformation?

Consistency is key, don’t think that it’s a percentage of diet and exercise. The only percentage where you will really see results is putting 100% in to each. However if you fall off the wagon don’t beat yourself up about it, just make the next meal count.
Also learn to love and accept what you see both within yourself and on the outside no matter what stage you are in your fitness/weight goals. Accepting doesn’t mean you have to stay where you are, it means acknowledging and then working towards the best you can possibly be. Just remember you are worth it and enjoy the journey.

Thanks again Sharna for sharing your amazing transformation with us and I wish you all the success in the future. Keep up the great work! XxDani

Weight loss Transformation Tuesday with Swopnesh

I love all my readers and followers but especially when young men send me their transformations. It's not just us girls that are conscious of our weight, our guys suffer the same insecurities but that all changes when we change our lifestyle, right?

Yes. So let me introduce the adorable Swoosh, he's all the way from Nepal and over here studying and looking might fine I must say on our Australian beaches :-)

How old are you and please can you share your health and fitness journey to date?
19 years old. Was overweight, lazy and inactive until 17 and now, I'm fit, active and full of energy.

What types of foods did you used to eat as a kid and young adult? What's changed since then?
As a kid and a young adult I generally ate a lot of fried and junk foods. Very less fruits and veggies. Now I mostly eat homecooked meals with loads produce and white meat protein.

Do you play any sports or what sports do you like watching?
I am a huge soccer fan. I love watching it and play it for fun as well. I also love biking and tennis.

What are your interests, passion and what makes you smile?
Food probably is the word that describes it all. Love to cook and eat fresh, healthy stuffs. I also love the outdoors, like going on hikes, bike rides and going to the beach.

What was the catalyst that sparked your lifestyle change?
I was sick and tired of being called fat. I wanted to be able to take my shirt off without being ashamed of myself.

What are some of your dreams/goals you hope to achieve over the next 12 months?
Number one goal is to keep studying hard and continuing my bachelors because thats the main reason I'm in Australia. Next goal is workout consistently to keep fit. My dream is to help at least one person to change their life, like I did and get my friends off junk foods.

What tips would you like to share with my readers about your transformation?
My number one tip is that commitment is all it takes to live a healthy life. If you want to loose weight and live a healthy life, ditch the couch potato lifestyle, start moving and become active, ditch the drive through and get into the kitchen. Get as much exercise as you can, eat loads of fruits, veggies and quality protein and dont eat junk and processed foods.

Thanks again Swoosh for taking time to answer these questions and keep up the great work! For those that wish to follow Swopnesh, he is on Instagram @swopnesh and has some amazing meals that simply make my mouth water!

Don't forget to email dani@fitnessfoodandstyle.com.au with your transformation pictures  (place Transformation Tuesday in the subject line) and feel free to answer the above interview questions to be featured on my blog and all my social media platforms.

Much love & friendship,
Dani

80/20 Fully Raw revised diet plan PLUS a 5 day mini squats challenge YOU IN?

This would be one of the hardest things I've done. So what I did this past week was turn our #standfully rawesome challenge into 80/20. Which means we eat 80% raw foods and 20% animal products eg: yogurt, meat etc... I am feeling a lot better. I was experiencing a lot of fatigue, dizziness and faint type symptoms AND I was always hungry!!! Which made me convert to 80/20 until I get the hang of things.

So my meals have looked like this;

Breakfast
HUGE bowls of mixed fruit salads

Watermelon fruit salad bowl

Snacks
Green juices and/or smoothies

Green berry smoothie

Ingredients
150g spinach
1 cup of frozen blue/raspberries
2 bananas
1 pear
1 scoop of 180 Nutrition Protein powder
1tbs chia seeds
Splash of water

Simply use your preferred blender (I have a Kenwood and Scheffield/Magic bullet style blenders) and watch these vitamins, minerals and protein turn into one jam packed and powerful meal!!! Approx. 500 calories

NB: please ensure you use my 10% promo code 264464 exclusively for all my readers, should you wish to order any 180 Nutrition products. They are amazing!

Lunches
HUGE plate full of raw vegetables

Fully raw vegetable salads

Dinners
Fruit salads and raw/cooked vegetables with chicken, beef and fish dishes

Silver beet and coconut chicken

This was our dinner tonight. All I had in the fridge was chicken, silver beet, coconut milk, garlic and tarragon herbs. So this is what I whipped up.

Ingredients

500g chicken thighs (cut in bite sizes) seasoned with S&P and
1tsp of tarragon (use whatever herbs you like)
bunch of chopped up silver beet (you can use spinach)
3 gloves of crushed garlic
1 can coconut milk

Method
1. Simply heat sauté pan (I use Chefs toolbox proudly sponsored by Janet Smith
2. Cook chicken with crushed garlic until golden brown. Set aside.
3. Add chopped silver beet and sauté with chicken juices until soft
4. Pour coconut milk and cook until slightly boiled.
5. Mix chicken through for a few minutes to absorb all the delish flavours and voila!

Super quick, super tasty and so yummy with crusty bread if I was eating it!!! ha ha Otherwise with brown rice or quinoa this would be amazing!!!

What's new?

Weight loss Transformation Tuesday with Joanna Pace

I'd like to introduce the lovely Joanna Pace, she is such an inspiration. I have been following her sister Janet's Facebook Page Fitness to Faithfulness and I am truly grateful she was happy to share her transformation with us here today.

How fabulous does she look? Rocking it Mama Joanna, like a true rock star!!!

Joanna dropped 3 jean sizes in less than 9 months!

How old are you and please can you share your health and fitness journey to date?

I am 46 years old, married 25 years, and have three gorgeous children ages 23, 19, and 16.  Ever since my pregnancies, I have always stayed active, working off the baby weight, doing aerobics.  The older I got, extra weight was hanging on.  I started running in 2000 and that seemed to work for awhile.  Since, I turned 40, I was not happy with my body shape.  I was working out hard, but never seeing any changes, weighing 150+ wanting to give up.  I had the mindset that since I was working out, I could eat anything I wanted!  Big mistake!  I was negating everything I was working hard for!  In Feb. 2012, I started Turbo Fire and loved it!  But, still frustrated with no weight loss.  I was still eating as I had always done thinking I was eating healthy!   On August, 5, 2012, I decided to make a change and my healthy fitness journey began.  I began to track my calories with the My Fitness Pal app, started making healthy eating choices, cut ALMOST all the sugar out of my diet, and worked out with Turbo Fire.  Then, and only then, did I start seeing results!  I was losing 1 lb. a week!  By March 6, I had lost 24 lbs. weighing 126.  I have had a 16% change in my body.  I have lost 4 jean sizes!  I am now a size 3!

What types of foods did you used to eat as a kid and young adult? What's changed since then?

As a kid and up until last August, I ate anything I wanted, mostly not healthy...casseroles, fried foods, desserts, fast food.  I ate a ton of sugar and I snacked a lot!  It didn't even register to me that I was eating unhealthy until I started tracking my calories.  I was shocked!  Now I do not go over my allotted calories for the day, no matter what.  I cut out desserts and sugary snacks and I only allow something sweet if I have any calories left over.  If I snack, it is fruit, veggies, or almonds.  My biggest smile of the day is if I have enough calories left over to allow myself to have microwave popcorn in the evening!  My eating has totally changed and I will never go back.  It is a lifestyle change, for sure.

Do you play any sports or what sports do you like watching?

I have never played sports per say, but after Turbo Fire, I consider myself an athlete!  I am stronger than I have ever been before, I can jump higher than I ever have, and my body looks better now than when I was a skinny 110 lb. teenager...before children!  Growing up, I hated to sweat.  The sweat pours off of me now and I love it!!

I love watching my son play high school football!  Go Seven Lakes!  And I love watching my home football teams, the Houston Texans and Texas A&M play!  Huge fans!

What are your interests, passion and what makes you smile?

What makes me smile?  My children and my husband!  I have been a homemaker for 25 years and absolutely love being a mother to my three children!  I have dedicated my entire adult life to being the best mom and wife I could be!  I love Jesus!  He is the whole purpose of my life!  Without Him, I would be nothing!  I am a praise team singer at Second Baptist Church, one of the largest churches in Houston.  I have the privilege of singing to thousands of people every single week.  I am also involved in a women's praise team, Watershed, that I am so blessed to be a part of.  I love movies and books and have a huge collection of both!  My favorite pastime is sitting down and watching a movie with the family, by myself, in the theater, at home, anytime!  I love it!

What was the catalyst that sparked your lifestyle change?

My catalyst for my lifestyle change was after seeing pictures of myself on a cruise I took in July.  That's what it took.  I was so frustrated and really wanted to see a change.  And I knew it had to be something totally different than what I have done in the past.  Obviously, that was not working for me!  The thing is, nobody thought I needed to lose weight.  When I told them I was 150 lbs., they didn't believe me or that I wore a size 10 jean.  I am the first one to admit that I could "rock" my clothes!  The truth of the matter was that I was never content or happy with my body shape underneath those clothes.  I was not making healthy eating choices and I negated my working out by thinking I could eat anything I wanted BECAUSE I was working out!  I am finally happy and content with my body shape for the first time ever!  And it's a conscience decision every day!

What are some of your dreams/goals you hope to achieve over the next 12 months?

My goal over the next 12 months, and really, the rest of my life, is to maintain my weight and continue on with my healthy lifestyle with exercise and healthy eating.  It's a choice everyday!  Everyday making that choice what my body needs...not want I WANT!  Treating my body with respectful choices...it's the only one I've got!!!!!

What tips would you like to share with my readers about your transformation?

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!  I thought I was always going to be the weight I was.  I remember having a bad attitude thinking, well, might as well eat "that", it doesn't matter!  I'm always going to have this belly pooch and these muffin tops!  It's a hard road, but you can do it!!!  If you have a not so good day today, be better tomorrow!  Soon it will be a lifestyle!  Choices will become easier!  Eat more at home.  Know what you are putting in your body!  If you eat out, choose a salad or grilled foods.  Know exactly what you are ordering!  You can eat out and still eat healthy!  Go online and check out their menus before going so you know what you are ordering!  Don't drink your calories!!!  Go ahead, get started today...you can do it.

How fabulous!!! thanks again for sharing your amazing story with us Joanna and anybody who would like to follow Joanna please do;
